Green Ranks #2 in Zweig Group’s 2023 Best Firm to Work For

Green has been recognized as a 2023 Best Firm to Work For in the Architectural, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) Industry by the Zweig Group. We placed 2nd among firms with 100 to 199 employees and ranked 3rd among Civil Engineering Firms in North America.  

Each year, Zweig Group evaluates and recognizes the top AEC firms using a range of criteria including firm culture, workplace practices, employee benefits, retention rates, professional development, and more.  These rankings are based on data collected from anonymous employee surveys, which gather accurate and unbiased information. 

Our President, Ko Ishikura, had the honor of attending the ElevateAEC Conference & Awards Gala in Frisco, TX, where he accepted these awards on behalf of the entire Green team. This acknowledgment highlights our commitment to cultivating a positive and enriching workplace environment that reinforces Green’s fundamental values. 

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our exceptional team, whose dedication and hard work have been instrumental in shaping Green into the firm it is today. These awards reflect the collective effort of our entire organization.

Valuing Our Employees 

Creating avenues for professional advancement and development, as well as nurturing a culture of ongoing learning, are key aspects of our approach. We assess our progress by reviewing the Open Response Report, which compiles the comments our employees contribute to the Best Firms To Work For employee survey. 

A team member expressed, “I think the compensation, good benefits, and ample opportunities for employees to grow in their roles are all ways that my firm is effectively retaining employees.”  

Work-life balance is a foundational principle that we actively uphold. With our flexible and hybrid schedules, coupled with unlimited paid-time-off, maintaining a healthy work-life balance is not just a goal but an integral part of our organizational culture. We acknowledge the significance of cultivating an atmosphere that supports the well-being of employees in both their professional and personal lives and it gives us validation that our intentions are headed in the right direction when we read comments such as this one written by one of our employees, “I really like the flexible work hours and ability to work from home. All of Green’s policies promote a healthy work-life balance by providing ample opportunity to take time off and/or work a flexible work schedule.” 

Social events are hosted monthly, as we have various committees that plan outings and volunteer opportunities to strengthen camaraderie within our team. We dedicate significant effort to enhancing camaraderie within our team at Green. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that one of our employees noted, “Green frequently has social events that promote a close team environment and offers an opportunity to get to know all coworkers and celebrate successes within the firm.” 

A Culture of Inclusivity

Our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee shares monthly updates on global cultural events and organizes activities like our International Cuisine Lunch event throughout the year. This year, Green was awarded the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion award by the New England Water Environmental Association.

Empathy involves perceiving and understanding the emotions of others, actively experiencing what they feel. At Green, we channel our efforts into attentive listening during bi-monthly check-ins, conducting empathy workshops, educating both employees and leaders on resolving conflicts empathetically, participating in wellness activities, prioritizing our employees through hybrid and flexible schedules, promoting diversity and inclusion, and advocating for feedback to continuously address challenges and improve our practices.
