Urban Planner (With Graphic Design Skills)

We‘re looking for the next innovative urban designer/planner to assist with providing creative solutions for our growing and diverse client base in the New England area.
The ideal candidate would bring a vigorous passion for community development and public outreach that will allow you to play an integral role for our Transportation Planning Group. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are critical to approach the workload with flexibility and channel your internal drive to achieve results. Success will be defined by your ability to multi-task, feel confident in your professional capabilities, and empower yourself to work with limited direction.
On any given day, you will:
- Work on several projects simultaneously while proactively collaborating with other team members.
- Prepare graphics, drawings and renderings in support of planning activities to communicate complex concepts to the public, elected officials and other professionals.
- Assist with preparation of boards, worksheets, and other materials for public/client meetings, workshops, charrettes, and project team meetings.
- Create large planning documents with proficiency in layout, consistency, and attractive visual appearance.
- Design and develop transportation planning studies and compile completed reports.
- Attend evening meetings and assist with public hearings.
- Participate in interviews and development of proposals, budgets, and project timelines.
Required Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s or master‘s degree in urban design, planning, architecture, or a closely related field.
- 0-3 years of relevant project experience.
Desired skills and experiences:
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of urban planning and document production is desirable, as is knowledge of urban design, public engagement, and an interest in downtown redevelopment, urban design and place-making.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and other graphics programs is strongly preferred; Auto CAD and GIS software experience is strongly preferred.
- Ability to create high quality graphic designs, development strategies, and render site plans via sketches and/or computer graphics.
- Self‐directed, motivated, collaborative, and professional, with ability to manage project deliverables, deadlines, and budgets.
