The Town of Wilmington retained Green to provide comprehensive civil engineering and landscape architecture services for the Yentile Farm Recreational Facility project. Green worked with the Town to incorporate their program and vision in a manner that accomplished the Town’s goals, while preserving and enhancing the ecological and hydrologic functions of the site.

The new Yentile Farm features a multi-use synthetic turf field, basketball courts, an open green space, a playground, a picnic pavilion, a concession building with restrooms, parking, extensive native plantings, and a hard-surfaced walking path. Approximately 9 acres of the 20-acre site was developed, leaving the balance in its natural state to preserve wooded areas and wetland resources. New construction was carefully designed to include innovative Low Impact Development (LID) practices. The site design included multiple low-impact development techniques, including bio-retention basins and porous asphalt. In addition to design services, we prepared a Notice of Intent filing to the Wilmington Conservation Commission and an application to the Planning Board for an Earth Removal Permit. During construction, Green provided a Resident Engineer for the project and performed construction contract administration services.

The Yentile Farm Recreational Facility is a shining example of restorative sustainability. The project won three design awards, including: a 2017 Sustainability in Civil Engineering Award from the Boston Society of Civil Engineers Section (BSCES); a 2018 Engineering Excellence Silver Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies of MA (ACEC); and the 2018 Distinguished Single Field Facility award from the American Sports Builders Association.
